Leoepards embarrass Motor Action in Confed Cup

Hwange,FC Platinum bring give Zim fans reasons to celebrate over the weekend. Bulls crashed out

Minnows of South African football and light weights in CAF competitions Black Leopards came to Harare and beat Motor Action 2-0 in their own backyard to qualify for the first round proper of the CAF Conferederations Cup on a 3-1 aggregate after drawing 1-1 at home.

It was a result that noone expected , least of them all Leopards themselves, but the Limopo based side threw caution to the winds and the results will surely take off pressure of being the basement team in the ABSA premier Soccer League back home.

Wth a clear strategy of getting an early goal, Thabo Mongalo achieved that for Lidoda Duvha as early as the first half, just before half-time and then punished the home team soon after the teams' return from the break.

Despite dominating possession, Motor Action failed to utilise their chances and bowed out of the competition.

The Mighty Bulls' defeat is such an embarrassment to a team that has everything no other Zimbabwean team has ever enjoyed from a private sponsor in the past. The team had about $150 000 available for their use in the CAF competition among other benefits for the players.

To perform in the manner they did in the preliminary rounds will be treated like treason by their loyal fans.

Good news for Zimbabwe though ios the form of two of their four reprsentative in this competition. FC Platinum thumped Green Mamba of Swaziland 40- at Mandava Stadium to sail through on a 8-2 aggregate, while Hwange dismissed Jamhuri of Zanzibar 4-1 to qualify for the next round on a 7-1 aggregate.

Zimbabweans will pray that FC Platinum and Hwange will take their form into the next rounds and go all the way to the mini-league stages of the two competitions.
