Pritchard back from injury

As usual Zimbabweans plying their trade in Europe and other parts of the world met with mixed fortunes over the weekend as most of their teams suffered defeats. For Edward Masinwa, Saturday was a day for rich pickings as he helped his high-riding side Ethnikos Achna to a 4-1 demolition of Aris away from home.

Masinwa, better known at home as Mashinya started the league match against Aris in the Cypriot First Division, topflight league, and he was the first on the scoresheet for Ethnikos, registering his name in the 39th minute with an equaliser to cancel an opener by Aris defender Andrei Stepanov in the 3rd minute.

The Zimbabwean international went on to score his second goal and Ethnikos' in the 71st minute to add to other gaosl by Wenderson and Said  Serjao in the added minutes of the 1st half and in the 81st minute respectively.

Masinwa has only appeared 7 times for Ethnikos, mostly as a subsitute, and he has given a return of three goals. All goals have been scored against the same team Aris, having scored in a 2-0 win in a Cup game on 01/02/2012.

Masinwa (Mashinya) plays in the same league as Omonia Nicosia' Noel Kaseke, who was an unused substitute in his club's 1-0 victory over Enosis on Saturday.

Ethnikos' recent great form has seen them move away from relegation zone to now sit pretty in 9th position on a 14 team Cypriot Division One log.

Elsewhere, Quincy Antipas grabbed a goals in a 2-4 losing cause for his Danish topflight league side SonderjyskE against Silkeborg on Sunday. SonderjyskeE are now in the drop-off zone following a poor run since the restart of the Danish Supeliga earlier this month.

Dickson Choto continues to sit on the beench at Polish Ekstralasa log leaders Legia Warsaw who drew 0-0 in a Warsaw derby with Polonia Warszawa on Friday night. Choto was an unused substitute and has not seen action in the past weeks.

Plymouth Argyle of Onismor Bhasera in League Two in England posted a good 1-0 victory against 3rd placed Shrewsbury Town on Saturday to move out of the drop-off zone and they now sit, precariously though on position 22 out of 24 teams with same number of points, 35 as 23rd placed Hereford United, but enjoy a better goal difference. Bhasera played the entire 90 minutes.

In League One, exciting Bradley Pritchard is back from injury and sat on the bench, but was unused as Charlton halted the losing tide in the last couple of games by holding  Scunthorpe United  1-1 away from home to remain top of the log with 79 points, exactly 9-points clear of second placed Sheffield United, who are tied on 70 points with derby rivals Sheffield Wednesday.

In France, Ovidy Karuru was a second half substitute in a 3-3 draw away at Nantes, and remain precariously pegged on 2nd from the bottom follwing terrible loss of form in the past few months.

In Belgium, Vusa Nyoni's Germinal Beerschot  were held to a 2-2 draw at home by Lokeren on Saturday, and remain 10th placed with just s single match left before the Play-offs stage. Nyoni is a key player for Berrschot and as usual played a key role in the entire 90 minutes.

In Russia, Musawenkosi Mguni remains on the sidelines following a serious injury sistained while on national duty with the Warriors on 29 February, while his club Terek Grozny has struck a rich vein of form, recording victory after victory in his absence.

On Sunday, Terek beat Rostov 2-0 to move second on the eight team Relegation Group in Russia's Premier League.

In Germany, Knowledge Musona was not even on the squad list for TSG 1899 Hoffenheim's 1-2 home defeat at the hands of visiting Stuttgart, a second consecutive defeat for Babbel's team. New coach Babbel appears to be running out of ideas on how to rescue to fledgling fortunes of one-time top eight team in the Germany Bundesliga.

It appears like the team has really hit a bad patch, players are low on morale, and poor team selection could be the coach's major let-down lately.
