Revitalised Chinyama on fire in Zimbabwe

Former Polish Ekstralasa League Golden Boot winner Takesue Chinyama reminded the world that he still has what it takes to compete at the highest level in soccer when he scored six goals in just three matches for his new paymasters Dynamos in less than two weeks.

Fresh from netting two goals for Dynamos' 2-2 drawn match away at Liga Muculmana of Mozambique in the CAF Champions League last week, Chinyama turned his attention to the beginning of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League last weekend.

The speedy big forward underlined his pedigree as a revived striker by banging probably the first hattrick of the PSL season in Zimbabwe, when he grabbed three goals in a 3-0 destruction of newboys Hardbody at Rufaro stadium on Sunday afternoon.

On Sunday, Chinyama proved that the three goals he had scored for Dynamos in the two previous matches were not a fluke, and fired his opener in the 23rd minute after Dynamos had dominated the PSL's new arrivals from the first whistle.

The striker who used his strentgh and skill to terrorise the visitors who were reduced to ten men at will, and increased his tally in the 70th and 75th minutes in the second half.

Apart form scoring in the Champions League, Chinyama had scored in Dynamos's 2-1 win over Motor Action in a NetOne Charity Shield final in Harare before the start of the season.

Injury woes had seen Chinyama leaving Legia in Poland after winning back to back Golden Boot awards in Poland with the Warsaw giants in the topflight league during the 2006/2007 and the 2007/2008 seasons.

He brings rich European experience to the Castle Lager PSL and the CAF Champions League.

His good form is not good news for Dynamos's quest to conquer Africa in 2012 and their desire to retain the Castle Lager PSL title. It is good news for interim coach Rahman Gumbo as the nations draws closer to the 2014 World Cup qualifiers and the  resumption of the AFCON 2013 qualifiers.

The Warriors have struggled to find a reliable partner to Knowledge Musona upfront, and the heavy reliance on the TSG 1899 Hoffenheim striker, who is being utilised a an attacking midfielder by his club, is not healthy.

Zimbabwe need at least two big strikers upfront, and make use of Musona's ability to take on opponents from either the left or right wing.

Such a scenario would see Chinyama partnering either Nyasha Mushekwi, provided the big Mamelodi Sundowns striker in cleared of match-fixing by the Ethics Committee, or  Russia-based Musawenkosi Mguni.
