Cranes lower in Fifa rankings

The Cranes’ poor form on and off the pitch continued as Uganda fell a further four places to 92 in the Fifa March rankings released yesterday. Bobby Williamson (pictured) side’s only engagement last month was a 2-1 loss to Egypt in a friendly in Khartoum, Sudan.

Despite the fall, Uganda, who also dropped two places to 22 in Africa - remain the highest, ranked in the Cecafa region, with only Rwanda coming close at 105. Kenya fell four to 117, Burundi climbed five to 127 and Tanzania dropped four to 145.

Cranes’ tormentors in March, Egypt, leaped nine places up to 55 in the world and eighth in Africa.

Bobby has always dismissed these rankings.

"To be honest I don’t take notice of them," Williamson said in an earlier interview.

"At times we play friendlies and beat big teams; we also beat big sides in the qualifiers but don’t move much. "I don’t know really what they are looking for. You win, you lose…you can move anywhere."

Uganda’s next engagement is a World Cup qualifier away to Angola in June.
