Nyadombo wins it for Usuthu, P Stars down Mamelodi, Bucs top
Amazulu defender Carlington Nyadombo scored his second goal in as many matches to give his club maximum points a 1-0 victory  in a KwaZulu Natal  ABSA premiership derby match on Wednesday night at the exquisite Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.

The Zimbabwean defender's solitary goal in a Nedbank quarter-final clash against Santos last week gave Amazulu passage into the semi-finals where they will now face Supersport United.

On Wednesday night, Nyadombo rescued a derby match which appeared destined for a draw when he forcibly headed in at the near post following a Mark Van Heerden corner kick in the 78th minute.

Interestingly, the goal was due to efforts of Amazulu's central defensive pair Kasonga Bukasa and Nyadombo. Bukasa connected well from the corner, but was denied by a brilliant save from Nkosingiphile Gumede in goals for Arrows. His save however went as far as Nyadombo who made no mistake from the near post.

It was the second time that Amazulu had won a match from a goal by a defender, and its been the same defender for two consecutive matches, the big central defender Nyadombo.

In all fairness to Arrows, Usuthu were lucky to get a goal against the run of play. Abafana besthende had dominated large chunks of the match, with the home team coming second best in ball possession.

The victory brings Amazulu's tally to 34 points and with it a place in the top eight,  sitting ahead of Bloemfontein Celtic on goal difference. Amazulu has a game in hand and could take their tally to 37 points if they win their match in hand.

Meanwhile in other matches, Orlando Pirates shot to the top of the table after drawing 1-1 with Moroka Swallows at Dobsonville Stadium, taking full advantage of Mamelodi Sundowns' shock 1-2 loss at home to Platinum Stars.

Earlier on Tuesday, Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs suffered a 0-1 home loss to a Cuthbert Malajila goal for Maritzburg United at Peter Mokaba Stadium.
