Malajila seen here scoring a goal against Golden Arrows this season. He has become a feared striker
Cuthbert Malajila is carving a name for himself in South Africa's ABSA Premiership as a player with a big match reputation after accounting for the losses of giants Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns during mid-week and over the weekend in similar style.

During midweek, Malajila scored against the run of play as his side Maritzburg United beat Chiefs 1-0 away from home.

On Saturday night the former Dynamos and Africa Sports player majestically out-paced the Sundowns defence towards the end of the match before expertly finishing off and scored a contender for goal of the season in the entire world.

Kulegani Madondo picked Malajila who attacked from the right from in the 74th minute. The Zimbabwean showed a killer instinct and exactly what a lone striker is expected to do during a counter attack. He beat the defence for speed drew the keepr in from the tightest of angles before curving the ball beyond the reach of the keeper for the killer punch.

His two goals against two of South Africa's biggest clubs have now almost assured Maritzburg of survival in the ABSA premiership.

His coach at Maritzburg Ernst Middendorp must be wondering why he did not sign the player earier in the first place after deciding against signing the player the first time he attended trials at the club a season earlier, only to be forced by the club to sign him upon his return for a second stint at the club.

Malajila has become the club's number one striker, relegating the likes of Diyo Sibisi, the club's top goal scorer with 7 goals this season , to the bench.

There is no doubt that on form, Malajila is the most dangerous striker in South Africa at the moment and remains a threat to most defenders. One had to be at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium to see how Clayton Daniels tried to stick to Malajila for 90 minutes.
