Bosso exact revenge on FC Platinum

Is Gumbo on the brink of exiting FC Platinum after home loss to Bosso?
After suffering a 0-2 loss to FC Platinum last year in their last league meeting, a fired-up Highlanders under new leadership of Kevin Kaindu avenged the loss of points last year and the loss of their players from the so-called money-bags of local soccer after beating the home side 3-1 in a one-sided Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match at Mandava Stadium on Tuesday.

Bosso scored through in-form striker Graham Ncube, Simon Munawa and an own goal from former Highlanders defender Zephaniah Ngodzo.

It was a terrible afternoon for Rahman Gumbo, whose platinum miners have been struggling ever since they bolted out of the CAF Champions League after losing 2-5 on aggregate to El Merreikh of Sudan over a month ago.

The loss to Bosso was however FC Platinum's loss, and news from Zvishavane is that there were wild scenes at Mandava with fans calling for the head of the coach Gumbo.

Gumbo, whose tenure as Warriors' interim coach was extended by ZIFA under unclear circumstances, appears to be heading for tough times at FC Platinum, with some wild speculations that the Highlanders match was billed as his redemption song.

Now that his club failed to inspire the hard-to please Platinum administration and fans by losing at home following their failure to win a Zvishavane derby last week, some believe that the writing could be on the wall for the Warriors interim coach.

Could Gumbo's imminent sacking as FC Platinum coach give his supporters at Zifa House reasons to now confirm him as a substantive coach? Why? Well, he now does not have to juggle two roles as club coach and national team coach.
