SPAIN: Real are La Liga Champions!

[Posted 03 May 2012]

The Special One had a special moment in Spain after winning title with Real Madrid last night
Real Madrid beat Athletic Bilbao 3-0 to end Barcelona's stranglehold of the biggest title in Spanish football, the La Liga title. Los Blancos needed to win after Barca beat Malaga earlier to heap pressure on them.

Jose Mourinho's Galacticos responded to the pressure in the most of emphatic way, scoring as early as the 16th minute through Gonzalo Higuian, before Mesut Ozil added a second in the first half. Early on after the break, Cristiano Ronaldo, who had earlier msised a penalty, atoned for his miss by scoring Madrid's third goal to seal the victory.

Madrid atoned for the agony of missing out on the UEFA Champions League final by successfully wrestling the La Liga title from Barca.

The Special One continues to break records for himself, and has now won his fourth title in a different league after championships at Porto in Portugal, Chelsea in England, Serie A title with Inter Milan, and now La Liga title with Real.

Madrid' title becomes the 32nd title, but they last won a title in 2008, and had gone for four years of barrenness, and Barca had were the dominant force. The loss against Real might have sparked Pep Guardiola's decision to announce that he will resign at the end of the season.
