Nomvete,Maleka,Nkhata score braces, as Swallows fly to 2nd
Moroka Swallows took flew into second place on the ABSA Premier  Soccer League standings following a mouth-watering striking process that resulted in a 5-2 demolition of home side Black Leopards in Giyani, thanks to braces from on-fire veteran striker Siyabonga Nomvete and Mpho Maleka

All seven goals on the night came in the second half after the first half ended 0-0. One might argue that it was a combination of the Dube Birds' current good form and the home's team fatigue factor, having only arrived in South Africa a few days before their match following their 3-1 loss in the CAF Confederation 1st leg tie against Nigerian opposition.

The visitors raced into a 5-0 lead, with Giorgi Negardzie opening the flood gates in the the 57th minute. From there on "Bhele" Nomvete and Maleka weighed in with braces, before a late individual show by Leopards' Nkhata saw the home side pull two goals back.

The match ended 5-2 in favour of high fyling Swallows, and the victory saw them leapfrog a host of teams to land in second position, officially installing the Soweto giants as the main challengers of the other Soweto giants Orlando Pirates, for the title.

If anything, Swallows are Pirates' real threat at the moment, as the Dube Birds have only lost four times this seson, the least number of losses all season thus far. Gordon Igesund's boys have been more consistent than any other title chasing team of late.

Nomvete took the opportunity to steer clear of the chasing pack for the Golden Boot award which was won by now Germany-based Knowledge Musona last season. He has now scored 18 league goals, and the closest rival sits on 11 goals. I

It is difficult to see anyone scoring more than seven goals in two matches to overtake Bhele. Beezsports is prepared to take the risk and declare that Bhele will be crowned Golden Boot winner at the end of the season.

For Nkhata who was only on the pitch for 9 minutes which yielded two goals, his only consolation in the loss is that his tally on the top goal scorers' charts has risen to 7.

The former Free State Stars striker has been blowing hot and cold this season, but he has certainly been  Leopards' most prolific striker despite having had to endure coming off the bench, and taking no part in the team's African safari after he was not registered  for the competition.
