Prince Boateng loaned to AC Milan

Boateng has moved to AC Milan on loan from Genoa

Ghana World Cup star Kevin Prince Boateng has finally made a dream move to a bigger profile team which suits his rising star, after Genoa, his new club, loaned him immediately to AC Milan.

Boateng was recently snapped up by Genoa from English Championship club Portsmouth for a reported figure of 6 million Euros. Ghananewslink reports that part of the deal was that Genoa would loan the player to AC Milan.

Apparently AC Milan have shown great interest in the player but would rather get him on loan first pending a permanent purchase should he impress at Milanello.

Genoa president Enrico Preziosi has accepted the eventuality that the player might not be able to play for his club, but is excited about the prospect of making profit.

"Milan have an unusual situation, as they have many players on the last year of their contracts and are keeping an eye on the balance sheet.

"Instead we had more of an opportunity to move for Boateng. For now he is joining the Rossoneri on loan," Preziosi told the Corriere dello Sport.

“Will he return to Genoa? He could do, but in a way I hope he doesn’t. If Milan buy him outright then it’ll mean we both saw this is a great player and Genoa will have made a healthy profit”, Preziosi boasted about his club's profit-making prospects.

Prince-Boateng, possibly the Black Stars' best midfielder at the World Cup finals last month, has already joined the Rossoneri who are preparing for the opening of the Serie A season. He reportedly trained with the club since Monday, even before the loan deal with Genoa was finalised.

The former Portsmouth star has been the subject of much transfer speculation following his outstanding world cup performance where many potential suitors sat and noticed his growing stock. Boateng commanded the Ghanaian midfield with the authority of a veteran.

The move to AC Milan should have come as a dream come true for a player whose talent was not given a platform to shine at Tottenham Hotspurs just a year ago. The Portsmouth move gave the Ghanaian international a chance to demonstrate his ability, leading to the call to the Black Stars by coach Miroslav Rajevac.

Boateng has had an opportunity to train with the rest of his new team mates and meeting new coach Massimiliano Allegri at Milanello. He is expected to feature for the Rossoneri  in a pre-season friendly match against rivals Juventus on Sunday.
