Egypt out of AFCON 2013!

Egypt out of AFCON 2013!
One of the leading stories of June month-end is the story of three-time African champions Egypt's failure to qualify for South Africa 2013 Africa Cup of Nations Finals, after suffering a 4-3 aggregate defeat at the hands of 'minnows' Central African Republic.

The Pharaohs failed to overturn a shock 3-2 defeat at home in Alexandria about two weeks ago. They could only manage a 1-1 draw in Central African Republic, and with that result, the North Africans will not be in the draw for the final round of  the 2013 AFCON qualifiers.

On Saturday, Egypt fell behind a Foxi Kethevoama first half strike, and only needed a strike from Emad Moteab 13 minutes from time to give them hope of salvaging something from the match.

It was not going to be, and it appears like the writing was already on the wall after the Alendaria disaster.

The record seven time winners of the AFCON will be absent from the finals of the competition for the second consecutive time.

It is the Central African Republic rising giants who will be in the hat come Thursday when thedraw will be made in Johannesburg South Africa.

Central Africa Republic's qualification brings the number of unseeded teams to 15, who will be paired against 15 seeded teams.
