Maritzburg finally get Mandaza
Zimbabwean striker Terrence Mandaza who recently ended his relationship with Platinum Stars, has now been signed by KwaZulu Natal-based ABSA premiership side Maritzburg United.

Maritzburg completed the signing of the player yesterday, and offered the talented Mandaza a two-year deal with an option for a further year.

The former Township Rollers star of the Botswana B-Mobile League arrived in South Africa with a big reputation after scoring an amazing 40 goals in the Botswana league a season before his South African move. A mixture of injuries, bad luck and failure to adapt to the Platinum Stars style of play contributed to little game time for the Zimbabwean.

At the end of last season, Terror was one of the Stars players who were released by the club, a sad development for such a talented player, but with the benefit of hindsight, it could turn out to be a real blessing in disguise.

Maritzburg wanted to sign Mandaza after less than a year into his contract with Stars after the player sstruggled for game time under coach Owen da Gama. After Stars terminated his contract, United swooped on their target for many years.

Maritzburg are beefing up their squad for next season and look likely to cause a few problems for many ABSA premiership teams. Apart from Mandaza, the squad has been bolstered by the arrival of former Bafana Bafana left winger Delron Buckley from Germany.

A strike force that will consist of the two Zimbabwean attackers Cuthbert Malajila and the big Terrence Mandaza is surely going to bang in a few goals in the PSL, what with the attacking prowess of Buckley from the left, with Kulegani Madondo and Mthokozisi Yende pulling strings from midfield.

Maritzburg have installed themselves as a team to watch in the PSL this upcoming season. There is now quality in the team, hence the team could afford to place good strikers like Diyo Sibisi on transfer list, especially after the arrival of Malajila who took the PSL by storm by scoring important goals which claimed the scalp of the likes of Kaizer Chiefs and Sundowns.
