URA vows to revenge over Kigali horror , Manko Joins newly promoted Victoria University

In beating Tanzania’s Simba 2-0 at the 2012 Cecafa Kagame Cup in Dar es Salaam on Sunday, URA were starting a long journey of deliverance from the 2010 Kigali horror.

And the tax collectors’ coach, Alex Isabirye - who presided over that showing at Amahoro Stadium two years ago as his first assignment after replacing Moses Basena - was as expected delighted with the start to the voyage.

That of course without remaining coy about winning the club’s maiden Cecafa championship title. "It was good to win our opening match and we worked as a team against a very good Simba side," said Isabirye after midfielder Moses Ali Feni’s brace of headers downed the Tanzanians. "But I cannot say we shall win the title at this stage. The first thing is getting out of the group then after that we can talk about winning the title."

URA’s last showing in 2010 saw them bow out in the group stage after losing their opening two games against Kenya’s Sofapaka 3-0 and Rwanda’s Atraco 4-0 before beating their Sunday victims, Simba, 2-1 in a dead rubber skirmish.

And now going into their second game against DR Congo’s Vita Club tomorrow before wrapping the group stage action on Friday against Djibouti’s Ports, Isabirye and his boys will be in better mental shape than they were in their second match against Atraco in 2010.

Meanwhile, the man who captained URA in Kigali then, Manko Kaweesa, has completed his long awaited move to newly promoted Bell Super League side Victoria University.
