Olympics 2012: Senegal doing Africa proud at Olympics
The young Teranga Lions of Senegal have been displaying great African football technique at the ongoing 2012 London Olympic games, and have had two outstanding results, beating fancied Uruguay 2-0 in their second match folllwing a 1-1 draw against hosts Great Britain.

The West Africans have topped their great performances at the Olympics with a well deserved qualification for the quarter-finals of the soccer Olympics, after completing the group stages with five points, following a poor 1-1 draw against whipping boys the United Arab Emirates  in their final group game.

The hero for the Senegalese has been young turk Moussa Konate, who has scored all their goals at the tournament to end the group stages with four goals, and with the goals he becomes the leading goal scorer and has a great chance to bag the Golden Boot.

Particulaly against Urugauy, Senegal proved their class. Down to ten-man after leading 1-0 early in the first half, there was apprehension that an Uruguay side with troubling pace of Liverpool striker Luiz Suarez and skillful Napoli forward Edinson Cavani would cause trouble for the Africans.

Yet it was Konate who grabbed a second goal, planting his header firmly beyond the reach of the Uruguayan keeper, achieving that despite having been sandwiched by two defenders.

Egypt also qualified from their group after beating Belarus to reach the quarters. Morocco and Gabon had to leave after falling off the group stages, leaving two very competitive African sides.
