Villa gets new stadium

The 16-time league champions yesterday officially moved to Kisubi Seminary - their new training ground.

Coach Mike Mutebiís side even had their first training at the ground, which is just off Entebbe Road, as they allow work on a proposed 5,000-seater Stadium at Villa Park to start.

"We wonít be training from Villa Park again until the stadium is worked on," Villa football director Joseph Kanaba, who intimated that club directors will be the main sources of money for the venture, said.

"By January next year it will be transformed into a standard one. We want to start playing our home matches at home." This is not the first time Villa are talking of building of a home stadium.

In May last year, the Al Sowaidi Sultan Humaid, a representative from United Arab Emirates club Al Wasl, visited Villa and promised an extensive partnership plan between the two sides.

Prime among the partnerships was helping Villa construct a 15, 000-seater-capacity stadium that would cost over $10m. Not much has been heard since.
