Hippos vows to protect two goal margin against Ghana

Uganda’s under 20 side, the Hippos, will try to protect their two-goal margin when they take on Ghana’s Black Satellites today (Wednesday) in the 2013 Africa Youth Championship qualifier return leg.

The game will be played at Tamale Sports Stadium, over three hours’ drive from the Ghanaian capital, Accra. The 3-1 advantage in Kampala a fortnight ago was a hard fought come-from-behind display after the visitors led inside 10 minutes.

Coach Paul Nkata has warned his boys against unnecessary lapses in concentration. "It’s an open tie which is far from done," said Nkata, "We have to respect our opponents because they will also be eager to get a win also.

Determined Hippos
"But the boys are determined. If it’s attacking we shall attack, if it’s defending we shall also do that but we are not going out to defend."

Hippos’ back four will have an uphill task of holding Black Satellites’ striking duo of Benjamin Annan Fadi and Michael Anaba, who scored their only goal at Nakivubo.

Meanwhile, Nkata will count on URA’s Erisa Ssekisambu and Proline’s William Wadri having left strikers George Abege (injured) and Yayo Lutimba (unfit) home.

Should the Hippos get past the Satellites, they will face Morocco who got a bye after Gambia’s withdrawal, in the final round in September
