Supersport, Zim PSL seal broadcast deal!
After many years of negotiations, it appears like the broadcast deal that has been prayed for by many soccer lovers and stakeholders, not less so by the parties involved, Supersport International (Pty) Ltd and the Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League has finally been concluded!

SuperSport and the Zim PSL have agreed today that Africa's biggest sports broadcaster, will broadcast league and cup matches played during the next five (5) and a half years, with effect from this month, and that is for the period September 2012- November/December 2017.

The Castle Lager Premiership in Zimbabwe will now join many leagues in Africa who have benefited from the cash injection from SuperSport International (Pty) Ltd, courtesy of broadcast rights, enjoyed by league in Angola, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Uganda, Zambia.

According to the Supersport website,  SuperSport will broadcast the fixtures from the Zimbabwean Castle Lager Premier Soccer League via all platforms, including
television, mobile and internet, throughout sub-Saharan Africa and the
adjacent islands.

SuperSport's Head of Acquisitions and Legal Brandon Foot says that the broadcaster is excited by breaking new ground and believes that there is tremendous potential in the product owned by the Zim PSL, that is the Castle Lager premiership.

“We are excited to be breaking new ground with our northern neighbours.
There is tremendous future potential in Zimbabwe and we believe that
this investment will grow and mutually benefit both parties,” Foot told the Supersport website on Wednesday.

Zimbabwe PSL Board of Governors Chairperson Twine Phiri is equally ecstatic about the conclusion of the deal.

“It is wonderful that a world class broadcaster, such as SuperSport is
now our broadcast partner. We received excellent feedback from our
stakeholders after SuperSport had broadcast a few of our fixtures in the
past.

"This long-term deal will ensure the sustainability of our league
and no doubt be very attractive for sponsors,” Phiri said.
