Monoz end Highlanders' unbeaten run in PSL

Osborne Mukuradare scored a hattrick as Monoz beat Bosso 3-0 at Rufaro on Saturday
Former Zimbabwe champions Monomotapa FC bounced back from a shock midweek defeat to bottom side Quelaton in Bulawayo in style when they handed Highlanders their first Castle Lager defeat  in 2012, outclassing them 3-0 at Rufaro in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match played at  Rufaro Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Osborne Mukuradare was star of the show at Rufaro, grabbing an amazing hattrick  to shock the log leaders Bosso before an appreciative crowd in Mbare.

The Monoz striker foundthenet in the 15th minute following a freekick awarded to the Harare outfit.

Highlanders had a few of their own chances in the first half but squandered them, opening themselves for further misery fromthe home team later on.

Mukuradare returned to haunt the Bulawayo giants in the 41st minute when he was neatly set-up by red-hot youngster and Warrior trialist Ronald Chitiyo to grab a double before half-time.

The well-oiled Monoz machine frustrated Bosso with their sleek passing game, and backed by possible Dynamos fans in the stadium, Monoz increased their lead moments before the final whistle, when, who else, but Chitiyo scored to complete his hattrick on the day.

The victory has given Monoz 43 points and a 3rd spot on the log, a place which could possibly be taken over by little Chicken Inn who are due to face in-form Buffaloes in Mutare at Sakubva on Sunday. A victory for Chicken Inn by any margin will see them level with Monoz, but with a superior goal difference.

Dynamos should be a happy camp following the defeat of Highlanders, and should they beat Shabanie FC at Rufaro tomorrow, they will end the day two points ahead of Bosso. They could still take over at the top even with a draw , owing to a superior goal difference.

In other PSL news on Saturday, WWS Ranger poured further misery on coach Moses Chunga by handing his Gunners side a 3-2 defeat.

Sunday Fixtures

Dynamos v Shabanie FC (Rufaro Stadium)
FC Platinum v Harare City (Mandava Stadium)
Hardbody v Motor Action (Ascot Stadium)
Buffaloes v Chicken Inn (Sakubva Stadium)
Quelaton v CAPS United (Luveve Stadium
