Sadomba on African Player of Year nominees list
For the second year running CAF club competitions giants and Sudanese star club Al Hilal gun man Edward Sadomba finds himself nominated among 32 others for the Africa-based Player of the year award.

The list will be whittled down to 10 nominees and the winner will be announced at the GLO-CAF Awards Gala 2012 which will be held in Accra, Ghana at the Banquet Hall, State House on December 20 this year.

The list includes players who have been active in CAF Champions League and CAF Confederations Cup, currently at group stages.

Zimbabwe-born Sadomba's club Al Hilal is just a point away from qualifying for the semi-finals of the Confederations Cup and are due to meet fellow Sudanese club Al Ahli Shandy at home and need just a point to seal a semi-final spot with a game to spare.

Duduza, as the former Dynamos speed merchant is popularly known, has already banged in 3 goals this season, but is a distance away from the seven goals he scored last season when he made the top 10 of the nominees for the African Player of the Year.

CAF wrote glowingly about Sadomba on their website in motivating why he made the list of 32.

"Sadomba is a household name at Omdurman-based Al Hilal. A regular feature on the score cards, the Zimbabwean forward has been integral part in the club’s campaign in the second-tier continental club
championship scoring thrice so far in their campaign as at the end of September.

"The 29-year old is also consistent in the Sudan Premier League, where his club are currently perched at the summit of the standings," a CAF statement read on the continental mother governing body's website.

Sadomba and the Zimbabwe national soccer team, the Warriors received a boost this week when the Al Hilal star striker was cleared of any wrong-doing in the just ended match-fixing inquiries handled by the Zifa appointed and Fifa blessed Ethics Disciplinary Committee.

The goal scoring machine has already been drafted into the Warriors squad due to begin camp in Johannesburg, South Africa for the final leg of the Africa Cup of Nations 2013 qualifier against Angola away in Luanda.

Zimbabwe carry a 3-1 lead from the first leg played in Harare in early September, a match which Sadomba and a host of other big names missed for various reasons.

In Harare, Zimbabwe was without several other players apart from 'Duduza' who were unavailable for various reasons. Knowledge Musona and Tinashe Nengomasha missed the match after a communication break-down between Zifa and their Germany and South African clubs respectively.

Kinston Nkatha, Cuthbert Malajila, Lincoln Zvasiya, Ephraim Mazarura, Sadomba and Energy Murambadoro  all received timely clearances and were immediately recalled into the Warriors squad to camp in South Africa from Monday.
