Musona inspires Augsburg to beat Bremen 3-1
Knowledge Musona inspired Germany Bundesliga minnows Augsburg to a surprise 3-1 home win over mid-table side Werder Bremen on Friday night, with the Zimbabwean creating two of the three goals after tearing the Bremen defence into shreds as he ran rings across the opposition's backline.

Augsburg were until last night's match, the bottom team on the 18-team Germany topflight league, but that all changed last night with their best 90 minutes in the Bundesliga this season, inspired by the Warriors talisman who is on loan from TSG Hoffenheim 1899.

The home team got their first goal within the first 90 seconds of the match when Tobias Werner headed the ball past Sebastian Mielitz in goals for the visitors from a Paul Verhaegh cross.

Bremen appeared not to know exactly how to mark the 22-year old Zimbabwean Musona who troubled them across the entire defence, at times switching from right to left.

Against the run of play though, Bremen found the equaliser in very comical fashion. The visitors got a free-kick outside the box, and Kevin De Bruyne flighted a delivery into the box, and Mohamed Amsif in goals fro Augsburg, somehow expected a defender to deal with cross, and it bounced into the net for Bremen's equaliser around the 18th minute.

Musona was to produce his magic on 32 minutes, making a beautiful combination move with Stephan Hain before the Zimbabwean laid a pin point pass for the forward to score and get back the home side in front.

In the second half, Augsburg took full control of the match with Musona at the centre. What was refreshing was the youngster's first touch, his maturity in finding his team mates with lovely passes from his attacking midfield role.

Bremen substitute Theodor Gebre Selassie fouled Musona just outside of
the penalty area in the 71st minute. The spot was close enough for a
shot, and Mielitz set up his wall to protect him. Daniel Baier shot the
ball on target and wrong-footed Milietz for Augsburg's third goal.

By the time Musona was substituted on the 86th minute, the damage had already been done. The substitution was a tactical move since Musona was sitting on a yellow card which he received in the 78th minute for a foul on an opponent as he tried to score a goal.

Augsburg collected their first set of points and now sit on three places away from the bottom in fourth position from the bottom with five points.

Musona will now leave for Johannesburg for Zimbabwe's camp ahead of their do or die second leg AFCON 2013 final qualifier to be played in Luanda on Sunday. The Augsburg man missed the first leg in Harare in September. He is joined by seven other stars who were missing in that 3-1 win.
