No let-up in Gorís title march

Sundayís top-of-the-table clash between defending champions Tusker FC and league leaders Gor Mahia lived up to its billing as potential tittle decider

And for once, AFC Leopards fans celebrated a win by Gor, who checked Tuskerís progress to ensure the title race remains a three-horse affair between KíOgalo, the brewers and AFC.

After Gor rose the league summit with a 1-0 win over the brewers on Sunday a day after AFC Leopards came from a goal down to beat host Oserian 3-1, there is no room to blink with two games to go.

KíOgalo have 55 points, while Tusker and Leopards are joint second with 54 and the chasing pack further back.

Gorís goal against Tusker came after goalkeeper Boniface Oluoch spilled a Dan Serenkuma shot which bounced past the line as Oluoch attempted a late clearance.

Referee Nassur Doka pointed to the centre and Gor held on for 75 minutes for the famous win that took them to the top of the league with a chance for their first league title since 1995.

"We are not there yet. We have 180 minutes to play to win the title. There is no room for any mistakes," said Gor Mahia coach Zdravko Logarusic.

"It is now in our hands, but if we falter at this stage, we will have only ourselves to blame. The bird is already caged. It is now for us to take it home," he added.

None of the three top sides can manage to slump in the next two games. Gor play Muhoroni next weekend before concluding their campaign with a match against Thika United in Nairobi.

Tusker play Western Stima next, then face City Stars while AFC Leopards have a date with Mathare United before travelling to Chemelil on the last day of the season.

Rangers beat Western Stima 3-2 and with Oserianís loss against AFC, itís a battle for survival at the bottom of the league table.

Other results saw Sony draw 2-2 with Sofapaka as Mathare beat KCB 1-0 while Ulinzi and Thika United drew 0-0.
