Express FC makes changes at the top

Bbale Mugera, who is also the club board’s president, will continue to also chair the executive but could soon be replaced by Rev. David Serunjogi, the proprietor of Trinity schools in Kabowa, Rubaga Division. Serunjogi is currently Bbaale Mugera’s understudy in a vice chairman’s capacity.

The club has also named four vice chairmen, a move sources within the club said, was aimed for the smooth running of the affairs at Wankulukuku.

Former secretary John Kitenda, also Buganda kingdom’s treasurer, is now vice chairman finance. Patrick Kalungi, an official in the education ministry is new secretary. Francis Ntalazi, a commissioner in the Ministry of Health retains his portfolio as vice chairman (technical).

Two new vice chairman positions of marketing and development have been created. Simon Sekankya of Hardware World will be in charge of development while Moses Bbuye will handle marketing and commercial issues.

The new changes have already been endorsed by Prince Kassim Nakibinge, who heads the board of Trustees of the club.

"Express has many assets that we want to develop. We thought we needed an independent arm to handle that. The same with marketing where we want to exploit avenues for sponsorship," the source explained.

The team will work together with 18 committee members led by lawyer Sam Serwanga. Others are Peter Nkugwa, Andrew Sekajugo, Roland Saka, Hamza Semwogerere, Hajat Minsa Kabanda, Abdu Kinobe and Rev. James Bukomeko.

Also on the committee are Winnie Serwanja, Hassan Kasajja, Moses Banturaki, and Jolly Joe Ssonko.

On November 30, the new team had their first meeting.

Express FC, Uganda’s oldest football club, toasted to its first Uganda Super League title in 16 years mid July this year.
