Angola hold Morocco in AFCON "13 match

One of Southern Africa's three representatives at the Orange Africa Cup of Nations 2013 finals, Angola, played out to a 0-0 draw against North African giants Morocco on Saturday night at Moses Mabhida Stadium in their opening match in Group A. South Africa and Cape Verde complete the group.

The Atlas Lions of Moroccos appeared like they were intent on overruning the Palencas Negras with some impressive slick-passing game in the first half, and clearly had the better chances in that opening half. The Atlas Lions missed many great chances.

Angola returned from the half-time break a much better side and took the match to the Moroccans, and with a bit of luck, Manucho and Mateus should have scored for Angola towards the end of the match.

A 0-0 draw, following hard on the heels of another 0-0 dfraw in the opening match between hosts South Africa and Cape Verde means all Group A teams are equal on points, and still have equal chances of progressing to the next round after group matches.

The Amgola/Morocco draw should come as a relief to Bafana Bafana who will feel that they under performed before a bumper home crowd at the National Stadium, aka FNB Stadium or Soccer City as it was referred to during the 2010 Fifa World Cup.

All four tems have a point each, with no goals, having conceded none after the opening two fixtures in the Group A.

The Orange AFCON 2013 is still waiting for its first goal, and for its first victory. However it can boast of two draws on the first day.
