Bafana come to the party, top Group A
South Africa responded well to the massive expectations of the nations, rising to the occasions in beating Angola 2-0 on Wednesday evening in a lively Group A crucial match in the AFCON 2013 finals at the Moses Mabhida Stadium

At last Gordon Igesund could afford a smile on his face during
post-match interview, after delightfully watching his charges come to life in swim or sink encounter. In the 30th minute defender Siyabonga Sangweni showed strikers one or two things about properly connecting a cross when he ghosted from a blind side to punish the Palencas Negras after they failed to clear a Bernard Parker free-kick.

Bafana Bafana had been the better team, stringing together passes, created healthy chances to score goals but were earlier let down by some wayward finishing from striker Tokelo Rantie and Katlego Mphela.

Angola did not trouble much Itumeleng Khune and had no answers to the hosts' fluidity from defence to the strike force, and in the 62nd minute, substitute Lehlohonolo Majoro finished a great through ball from another second half substitute Reneihlwe Letsholonyane.

Major scored with his first touch of the match, and showed enough hunger to deserve a second goal in injury time, but was unfortunate to miss out on the chance of a double.

South Africa now top the log with 4 points out of two matches, and will hope that Morocco and Cape Verde will play out to a draw to give them a more realistic chance of qualifying for the quarter-finals even with a draw in their final match against Morocco.

The win by South Africa against Angola was their first victory at the AFCON since 2004, which is a nine years wait.
