Ghana, Mali progress from Group B

Ghana produced their best attacking football thus far at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations finals when dispatching Niger convincingly 3-0 at the Nelson Mandal Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth on Monday night.

Asamoah Gyan was first on the scoresheet, before debutant Christian Atsu and defender John Boye added to the woes of Niger on a beautiful night for the Black Stars.

Ghana completed the group games on seven points, while Mali was lucky to get a draw plus four points and knock out their opponents on the night, the DR Congo, who, despite not tasting any defeat, are now out of this tournament.

Mali will now play the hosts South Africa in the quarter-finals, while Ghana will battle it out with a very pluck Cape Verde side that has been doing all the riht things at this tournament, breaking records for themselves.
