Uganda holds Rwanda 2-2, Coach impressed

Uganda held Rwanda 2-2 in the international friendly that took place at Amaholo Stadium in Rwanda’s capital Kigali on Wednesday after a late strike from Rwanda’s  substitute Papy Sibomana’s.

However, Uganda’s coach Bobby Williamson was pleased with the quality of football displayed by his side, especially the impressive Dan Sserunkuma, who created the first for exciting Saidi Kyeyune before grabbing his own from the penalty spot, and the other debutantes.

"It was a good performance," said Bobby. "We played a lot of youngsters and experienced players came off before Rwanda equalised (the second goal).

"So I’m happy with how well they handled the occasion. I’m pleased." The Scot used 17 of the 18 players that travelled, with KCCA’s Brian Majwega the unfortunate player not to have a run-out.

"Such games are games where you wanna see as many players as possible. We were allowed only six substitutes and I feel for the boy Brian Majwega. You and I know what he is capable of."

Sserunkuma, Willy Kavuma, Savio Kabugo, Fahad Kawooya and Ali Feni were the debutantes. The Scot specially impressed by Sserunkuma’s full debut show.

"There was never a problem between Dan Sserunkuma and I or him and Uganda," said Bobby regarding Sserunkuma’s earlier assertion that he would change nationality should Uganda continue ignoring him, "It’s only journalists who were writing these things."
