Nigeria are Super AFCON 2013 Champions!
After 19-years of an agonising wait, Africa's most populous nation Nigeria's Super Eagles have proved they are back to their super status in Africa, by beating brave Burkina Faso 1-0 in the Africa Cup of Nations to retain a title which they last won in 1994 under Dutch coach Clemens Westerhof, and when current coach Stephen Keshi was captain.

Sunday Mba is the man who got that super goal for Nigeria in the 40th minute to seperate the two teams, and the goal proved to be the winner.

The Super Eagles were clearly dominant in the first half, and it came as no surprise when Mba scored to give Nigeria the lead.

Burkina Faso tried their best to get back into the game, but they were not as effective as they were in the semi-final victory over Ghana.

Joseph Yobo, and not Vincent Enyeama lifted the trophy as captain, true to the word of Enyeama that he would step aside and allow Yobo to lift the trophy, great team work.

Jonathan Pitroipa was named man of the tournament, after a great effort not only by Pitroipa, but by the entire Burkina Faso team.

Steven Keshi becomes only the second African to win the title as both a captain of the nation and a national team coach of the same team. The first man to have done that was the Egyptian  Mahmoud El Gohary who won the title as player in 1959 and as a coach in 1998.

Now Keshi has followed in his footsteps, taking up the title as Nigerian coach in 2013, following up on success as a player when he was given the chance to lift the cup as winning captain in 1994. It did not matter that in the final match against Zambia, Keshi sat on the bench.
