Supersport's bumper Easter Zim PSL match-broadcast

Supersport"s bumper Easter Zim PSL match-broadcast
In a move sure to market the quality of Zimbabwean football and the talent present in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League, Supersport TV channel will be broadcasting 2013 PSL matches on channel 9 reserved for African nations other than South Africa.

The broadcasting of 40 live matches is part of the close to 5-year deal which was signed between Supersport of South Africa and the local PSL last year.

Some PSL matches were screened alive, beginning with the Motor Action v Dynamos match last year, and other delayed coverages which followed thereafter. In 2013, this deal will see 40 matches being covered live, with a few highlights of other matches not covered live.

The PSL Board of Governors is as excited about this development as is the rest of the country's soccer fans and other soccer stakeholders. The joy of the PSL leadership and the benefits to be derived were captured in a statement by PSL CEO Kennedy Ndebele.

“Not only will this allow our best players to
market themselves but it will attract new sponsors and bring improved
standards in match officiating and organisation.

"It’s an historic step
for our league which can only bring benefits for the teams and the
players,” Ndebele said.

The broadcast will begin with the live coverage of a match which promises fire-works, a derby featuring two teams familiar with each other's type of play, the Harare City v CAPS United match to be played today at Rufaro Stadium.

The same Rufaro will play host to the Black Rhinos v Monomotapa match on Friday. With Action coming in thick and fast, CAPS will host Motor Action, still at Rufaro, before the stadium hosts a tough encounter featuring champions Dynamos and fast-improving and Net-One Charity shield holders Chicken Inn.

While the above may create impressions that only matches in the capital Harare will be beamed live, the reality is that the Supersport broadcast package sees the big TV channel visit parts of the country such as Bulawayo,  Hwange  and even as far afield as Zvishavane's Mandava Stadium.
