Giggs and Neville appointed Man U coaches
Veteran Manchester United attacking midfielder Ryan Giggs has been handed a perfect opportunity to learn the ropes of coaching while still playing competitive football, when he accepted an offer from new coach David Moyes to become the first team's player-coach.

Giggs was this week added to Moyes' technical team along his former team mate at Old Trafford and former United and Everton captain Phil Neville, who is believed to have been appointed as the First Team coach for the upcoming 2013/2014 season.

Moyes told BBC Sport that he was delighted that his offer to 39 year old Giggs has been accpeted.

"I'm delighted that Ryan has accepted the chance to become player-coach," said Moyes.

Giggs, who is said to be the only active player with the requisite qualifications to coach any team in Europe's top leagues was equally excited by his first leap into a managerial role

"It's no secret I've been taking my qualification. I see this as the first step in my future career.

"It's a great privilege to be appointed a player coach. I hope I will
be able to bring my experience to bear, having been both a player and
part of the Manchester United family for so long.

"I'm really looking forward to working alongside David and the team," Giggs said.

It will be great to see how Giggs will juggle his playing role and his coaching role during his first season in which he will be doubling as player-coach.

Appointing two Man U greats was a masterstroke by Moyes and these are signs of his shrewdness as a professional. This will help him settle down and establish good relationships with the players.
