Why Musona chose Chiefs over Euro club loan

The Smiling Assassin is back at Naturena in Chiefs colours!....on loan though
On late Friday morning, media websites in Africa, particularly in South Africa where Knowledge Musona cut his milk teeth at topflight level with Kaizer Chiefs were awash with news that the 1899  Hoffenheim attacker has rejoined Chiefs on a year-long loan. Indeed Musona has returned, but why?

Amakhosi, as Chiefs are affectionately known in South Africa announced on their website that they had brought their golden boy back to Naturena after two years in Europe, in keeping with the agreement with the Germany club in 2011 that Musona would return to Chiefs should he choose to return to South Africa, the Kaizer Chiefs Football Manager Bobby Motaung revealed.

"Bringing back Musona signals our intentions as we prepare for what promises to be a very competitive season following the league and cup double achievement of the 2012/2013 PSL season. We brought Musona on a one season loan with an option to buy him.

"When we sold him we agreed with Hoffenheim that Kaizer Chiefs will be his home in case he returns to South Africa. This is a clear statement that we mean business and that we will always to our best to bring the best talent to Kaizer Chiefs," Motaung  told the Chiefs website.

According to Goal.com, one of the reasons Musona returned to Chiefs is that he was not happy in Germany as the player felt that he fell victim to coach chopping and changing at both his parent club Hoffenheim and Augsburg where he spent a frustrating season-long loan.

"Frustration was the main reason why he decided to come back to Africa.
He just wanted to go to a club where he will play regularly. For now, a
first team jersey was not guaranteed at Hoffenheim, goal.com wrote on their website on Friday.

It appears that there were a number of suitors angling to get Musona on loan, but Kaizer Chiefs pounced on their target and beat the European clubs who dally-dallied and took time to get their man. Musona is valued at Chiefs and they have always been looking for an opportunity to bring the Smiling Assassin back to Naturena.

"There was an offer from England, but the club did not make a serious bid
and besides, Musona was afraid that the same thing would happen if he
joined another European club. That is why he decided to come back to
South Africa. Yes, he still wants to go back to Europe from Kaizer
Chiefs but it will probably not be Germany, Goal.com added.

The reported interest from Netherlands Eredivise club NAC Breda was also not followed up with the urgency with which Chiefs pursued their man, so both the unnamed English Barclays PSL team and NAC Breda were beaten to the game by the reigning South African ABSA premiership champions.
