Lincoln Zvasiya-left leaves Chiefs for OFI Crete in Greece
Zimbabwean Senior National team central defender Lincoln Zvasiya has moved to Greece's topflight club OFI Crete on a one-year loan from South Africa's ABSA Premier Soccer League champions Kaizer Chiefs, the SOWETO club has officially announced on its website.

The Greek club thought to have been interested in buying the player outright, settled for season-long loan deal with Chiefs. Amakhosi on the other hand have decided to play it safe by allowing the player to go on a year-long loan to increase his value in Europe before selling him for more money.

The situation, believed to be mutually beneficial to all parties involved was aptly described by Chiefs Football Manager, Bobby Motaung to the Chiefs website on Friday afternoon.

"Lincoln is a top player. We looked at the Team and thought it will be best for him to get game time at another club.

Bobby suggests that there is a potentially for a permanent deal in the near future should Zvasiya settle in Greece.

"We will continually monitor the situation and determine the way forward. It is also good for him to gain experience in a different country. He is young and its good for his growth and development as a player.," Motaung told the Kaizer Chiefs website.

Motaung praised the Greek Super League side for the way they handled their request for the player and the negotiations to get Zvasiya to Europe.

"Football Club OFI Crete was professional in the way they advanced their proposal and we looked at it and we found that the deal made sense for everyone involved. It is Kaizer Chiefs' policy to open up opportunities for the players, especially when those opportunities will grow and develop the players."

OFI Crete survived relegation by the skin of their teeth last season, finishing just above the two clubs who were eventually relegated to the second tier Football League 1.

Zvasiya becomes the second Zimbabwean player in a space of three days to conclude a deal to play for a topflight club in a fairly competitive European league. Musa Mguni this week completed a move back to Metalurg Donetsk after his deal with Russian club Terek Grozny was mutually ended upon his return from injury.

Three other Zimbabwean players are set to complete moves to European clubs between now and mid July. Khama Billiat is currently on trial at Lokomotiv Moscow of Russia's Premier League and could find out if he will be playing in Europe as early as Monday next week.

Nyasha Mushekwi has reportedly gone to Belgium to complete medicals at Cercle Brugge should his current South African paymasters Mamelodi Sundowns agree terms with the Belgian Pro League side.

Plymouth Footballer of the 2012/2013 season Onismor Bhasera is expected to move to Turkey in the Turkcell Super League with
Sanica Boru Elazigspor.
