Zimbabwe beat Maritius 3-0 in CHAN

New Zim coach Ian Gorowa could afford a smile after a 3-0 win over Mauritius on Sunday

News coming from Mauritius is that the Warriors of Zimbabwe have taken a 3-0 lead in the first leg of the Championship of Nations (CHAN) qualifiers played at the King George V Stadium between 13h00 and 15h00 Zimbabwean time on Sunday afternoon.

Zimbabwe, the visitors, started the match brightly and scored an early goal in the 5th minute through reigning Golden Boot winner Nelson Maziwisa.

In the second half, How Mine's Simba Sithole scored the Warriors' second goal in the 59th minute to give the visitors a 2-0 cushion.

The Warriors' probing got them yet another goal at the death to seal a 3-0 away win. The FC Platinum hitman scored in the 90th minute to emerge from the match with a brace. Maziwisa has now enhanced his reputation as a deadly striker.

New Zimbabwe coach Ian Gorowa will be happy to take a healthy lead, and those who predicted a 4-0 Zimbabwe victory could have been dismissed as having undermined the home team's abilities, but they have been justified with the Warriors' 3-0 away victory.

Zimbabwe did not seem to have missed some missing stars such as injured Felix Chindungwe and star striker Tendai Ndoro who is currently attending trials at South Africa's ABSA premiership ambitious club Bidvest Wits who are based in the commercial city of Johannesburg.
