Zim stars abroad- How are they performing?
In this article we trace Zimbabwean players plying their trade in foreign leagues and assess how they are performing in the 2013/2014 soccer season. We will look at Zimbabwean players in Europe, South Africa, and parts of Asia.

Belgium

In Belgium, Ovidy Karuru is still not appearing on the OH Leuven squad of the day sheet following his reported feud with the club's coach. He was again absent on the team sheet on Saturday when his club drew 0-0 with Sporting Charleroi at the club's home ground Stadion Den Dreef. His countryman Vusa Nyoni appeared as a 65th minute substitute in Mons' 1-1 draw at home to Waasland Beveren at the Stade Charles Tondreau on Saturday. Nyasha Mushekwi was not in KV Oostende's 2-4 home loss to log leaders Standard Liege on Sunday.

Czech Republic

In-form full back defender Costa Nhamoinesu starred in Sparta Praha's 2-0 away win at Znojmo on Monday night  and with that result moved to the top, replacing Viktoria Plzen who were held to a 1-1 draw at third placed Slovan Liberec on Friday night. Sparta Praha now have 22 points after 8 games, and are now 2 points ahead of their closest competitors Plzen and 3 points ahead of Liberec. The 27-year old left-back Nhamoinesu has played in all the 8 league games played by Sparta thus far, and has a goal to his name.

Denmark

Quincy Antipas' Brondby finally knew how to win when they beat OB 2-1 on Sunday. Antipas played for the entire 90 minutes, and is a key player for the club.

England

Bradley Pritchard's Charlton Athletics have begun to steady the ship in the Championship after a bad start  in which they suffered back-to-back defeats from Middlesbrough and AFC Bournemouth early into this season. They have now collected 4 points from their last two matches against formidable opposition, winning 2-1 at home against Leicester and drawing 1-1 away at Watford over the weekend. Pritchard has been a regular at Charlton since last season. Charlton are placed 17th in a 24-team league and are slowly making their way up and currently have 5 points from five games. In League One, 17-year-old Brendon Galloway is just a first team member for Milton Keynes Dons who have been fighting for promotion, and at times coming very close to qualifying for the Championship in the past three seasons.

Greece

Lincoln Zvasiya continues to cement his place at OFI Crete in the Greek topflight and has made it four games in a row, as he guided his club to their third draw against Asteras Tripolis who held OFI 1-1 at home. Zvasiya, who is on loan from Kaizer Chiefs of South Africa, appears to be doing enough to be signed even by a top team in Greece such as Olympiakos, Panathinaikos or PAOK.

Romania

In Romania's Liga 1, the country's topflight league, Mike Temwanjira is clearly the club's number one striker as he features prominently this season. On Monday night, Mike led his team to a 1-0 home victory against ACS Poli Timisoara. Temwanjira played for the entire 90 minutes.

Sweden

Archieford Gutu has not featured much this season for Kalmar who are among top 6 teams in Sweden's topflight league.

Asia

Two Zimbabwean players played in the United Arab Emirates Pro-League last season. Noel Kaseke who played for Al-Shaab, has now been released by the club by mutual consent and is currently a free agent. Edward Sadomba is surprisingly still playing for relegated Ittihad Kalba SC, and the season for the UAE second tier has not yet kicked off.

South Africa

Warriors chief striker and talisman Knowledge Musona, who scored in Zimbabwe's 2-1 victory away in South Africa in an international friendly played at Orlando Stadium last Tuesday continued to show great form by terrorising the Maritzburg United defence and registering his first goal of the season in Kaizer Chiefs' 2-0 victory at the Soccer City on Saturday. Kingston Nkatha and Willard Katsande played in that match, with the former leaving the pitch after 83 minutes, while Musona suffered from stomach cramps and was substituted in the 72nd minute. His replacement George Lebese scored Chiefs' second goal. Terrence Mandaza played for United and was replaced shortly after the second half.

Obadiah Tarumbwa and Washington Arubi had smiles after registering their first three points of the season on Saturday as they led AmaTuks to a 2-0 home victory against Roderick Mutuma's Bloemfontein Celtic. Mutuma was a second half substitute for Phunya-selesele.

On Friday night, Denver Mukamba, full of running and causing anxious moments for the opposition each time he was in possession, created Bidvest Wits' goal scored by Malawian youngster Robin Ngalande after flighting an incisive cross into the box for Ngalande to poke into the nets and give Wits a 1-0 win. Former Warriors captain Benjamin Mwaruwari also played for Wits in that match. There was no sight of holding midfielder Tinashe Nengomasha and defender Thomas Sweswe in the Wits' line-up on Saturday. Sweswe is still awaiting his papers from Home Affairs.

Central defender Carlington Nyadombo and keeper Tapuwa Kapini combined their sterling performances at the back for Amazulu to lead their side to a moral boosting 1-0 victory over Moroka Swallows to temporarily move joint top with Supersport United on 9 points after 4 matches, but the Pretoria side assumed the top spot following a 1-1 draw against Mpumalanga Aces. Method Mwanjali marshalled the defence of Amazayoni, but there was no sight of new striker Tendai Ndoro, who probably is still awaiting work permit before he can feature for his new club.

Takesure Chinyama made his first appearance for Platinum Stars as they drew 0-0 away at the Steve Khomphela coached Free State Stars.

Mamelodi Sundowns were inactive during this past weekend, which meant extra rest for their three Zimbabwean players, new-boys Cuthbert Malajila and dribbling wizard Khama Billiat, and veteran Esrom Nyandoro. Malajila and Billiat featured in Zimbabwe's 2-1 friendly victory against hosts South Africa on Tuesday night.

There will be mid-week action in the ABSA Premier Soccer League as follows:
