Mushekwi, Nhamoinesu score in Europe
Czech Republic based defender Costa Nhamoinesu has continued with his purple patch for the Czech Liga log leaders Sparta Praha, and scored a goal in his club’s 4-1 victory over sixth-placed Mlada Boleslav on Saturday to maintain a five-point lead over second-placed Viktoria Plzen.

Left back Nhamoinesu scored Praha’s second goal in the 59th minute to help his team come from a goal down to emerge 4-1 winners at home against the visitors.

The 27-year-old Warriors defender  (Nhamoinesu) who stands at 1.87 m tall, weighing only 78 kgs, has been an ever present player on Sparta Praha’s line-up, featuring in every 90 minutes of the 15 out of 15 games played by Praha in Czech’s Liga thus far this season, totalling a maximum 1350 minutes.

Praha now have 39 points after 15 games, and have dropped six points from their three draws thus far into the Czech 2013/2014 season. Nhamoinesu has not scored only once, not even twice, but three times this season, and finds himself on the list of top goal scorers this season.

The Zimbabwean international joined the Czech giants from Zaglebie Lubin before the beginning of the 2013/2014 season, and what a season he has had thus far!

In Belgium,  Nyasha Mushekwi was on the scoresheet as his relegation-threatened  KV Oostende whacked former Belgian Pro-League champions Genk 4-0 on Saturday, with the big 1.88m tall  26-year old Zimbabwean hitman scoring Oostende’s second goal in the 20th minute.

The Warriors striker, who is still owned by South African rich club Mamelodi Sundowns, has now scored  two league goals in the total 614 minutes out of the 10 games he has played for the newly promoted Pro-League side. Milkshake has ofcourse scored close to five goals in Oostende’s colours, but some of the goals he has scored came in friendly matches and cup game.

In Romania, Mike Temwanjira may not have scored goals so far this season, but he is FC Vaslui’s number One striker and has been playing full matches this season. On Friday night, Mbozha’s club notched yet another win, in a 2-1 away victory at Otelul Galati to continue their rise from a lowly position they endured since the beginning of the season.

Temwanjira’s Vaslui were at some stage in the relegation zone, but started picking up crucial points to now sit on eighth spot out of 18 teams with 21 points from 14 games and they still have a game in hand to be played on Tuesday at home to Concordia Chiajna. With victory, Vaslui could end Tuesday on 6th position with possible 24 points ahead of 6th placed Dinamo Bucharesti.

The 31-year old Zimbabwean forward Temwanjira who is 1.87m tall, weighing 88 kgs,  has started 13 of the 14 matches played by Vaslui thus far, and got substituted six times, and completing a massive 1011 minutes on the field for the Romanian giants, who have played in the UEFA Champions League and Europa League before.

Quincy Antipas’s Brondby have really made a complete turn-around of things in Denamrk’s topflight football. The veteran former SonderjyskE striker who has been affected by injuries this term, has played in 13 of the 16 matches by Brondby so far this season, totaling 1065 minutes on the field of play.

At Brondby, Antipas plays exactly the role that Temwanjira fulfills at FC Vaslui and getting on the score sheet is considered a bonus.

For the Warriors Antipas has been used an attacking midfielder a position which appears to suit him best, especially when he attacks from the left flank.  Temwanjira is a typical hustler upfront, and when he plays with more sure-footed fellow smaller striking partners like Knowledge Musona, Cuthbert Malajila or Simba Sithole, his value to the team can be clearly felt.

In Greece, defender Lincoln Zvasiya who has enjoyed a fair amount of game-time in Greece’s topflight football with OFI Crete, was not on the team sheet in OFI’s  2-1 victory over Apollon Smirnis.

22-year old Zvasiya, who is on loan from South African reigning champions Kaizer Chiefs, has played in 8 out the 11 matches played by OFI thus far, and got into trouble with his first team place when he received a red card in a 0-1 loss to Greek giants Panathinaikos on 21 September 2013. He has not really recovered from that set-back.

In England’s second tier, the Championship,  attacking midfielder Bradley Pritchard lasted 58 minutes this time in the colours of Charlton Athletics as they lost 0-1 away at promotion-chasing Queens Park Rangers.

Great news coming from League One is that on 9 November 2013, 17 year-old Brendon Galloway scored a goal for Milton Keynes Dons  in the FA Cup competition as they beat Haifax Town 4-1 to advance to the next round. The attacking midfielder is certainly one for the future, and coach Ian Gorowa needs to begin introducing him to the Warriors outfit gradually and help market him to bigger teams.

In South Africa, it was not such a great weekend for Zimbabwean players.  The only good news for Kaizer Chiefs’ Zimbabwean contingent is that Knowledge Musona returned from injury much earlier than had been predicted, but was in a 0-1 losing cause in the semi-finals of the Telkom Knockout cup competition. The other good news is that Willard Katsande played well, and Kingston Nkhatha was only introduced very late in the match.

Carlington Nyadombo returned for Amazulu following international break in which he featured in Zimbabwe’s 0-0 draw away in Tanzania, and he scored an own goal to allow Free State Stars back into the league match to draw 1-1. Kapini did not play in that match.

In Libya, Edward Sadomba’s Al Ahly Benghazi is currently top of the Libyan league.
