Zimbabwe"s Silas Songani celebrates a goal for SonderjyskE with team mate in Denmark

Zimbabwe's latest import to Europe Silas Songani enjoyed a great start to his career in Europe when he scored for his struggling club SonderjyskE as they walloped fellow strugglers Vestsjaelland 4-0 away from home to ease their relegation worries.

Songani scored his first goal in the 75th minute of his first match in Denmark's topglight, the Superliga. The other goals were scored in the 16th, 55th and 58th minutes of the match.

SonderjyskE still lie at the foot of the Superliga log but they are showing hunger to improve their lot in the league in this second round of the season. Songani was in imperious form on Friday night on his first official match for the European club.

Songani's form should come as good news for coach Ian Gorowa whose Warriors  are due to participate in the preliminary rounds of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in May.

Still in Denmark, Quincy Antipas was surprisingly an unused substitute as Brondby drew 2-2 with Aab on Sunday to remain 4th in the Superliga with 26 points from 19 matches, and 10 points adrift of log leaders Midtylland who suffered a 1-2 loss away at OB on Saturday.

In Czech Republic, on Monday Costa Nhamoinesu's team Sparta Praha continued with their great form in the Czech Liga as they beat Zbrojovka Brno 4-0 at home to move to 45 points and remain five points clear of reigning champions Viktoria Plzen.

In Romania, Mike Temwanjira continues to be a key player for FC Vaslui despite not scoring regularly. He has featured as first choice striker for Vaslui, creating goal-scoring opportunities for the club and fighting as a team player. He played for the entire match in the 1-1 draw against CFR Cluj. Vaslui remain 6th in the Liga 1, Romania's topflight, with 30 points from 20 games. Giants Steau Bucharesti lead the standings with 48 points from 20 games.

Ovidy Karuru featured for 90 minutes in struggling OH Leuven's  2-5 loss to Club Brugge over the weekdn to remain second from the bottom, 7 points ahead of bottom side Mons who won 2-1 away at Kortrijk. Former Warriors defender Vusa Nyoni was an unused substitute for Mons.

In South Africa, a second half substitute Knowledge Musona rescued the match for Kaizer Chiefs as he scored in the 2nd half of  Extra-time to beat division one side Black Leopards 1-0 in the first round of the Nedbank Cup, for which Chiefs are defending champions. The in-form Williard Katsande featured for the entire match, while Matthew Rusike came on in the 87th minute.

Chiefs' star marksman these days Kingston Nkatha was suspended for this match.

In another Nedbank match between Maritzburg United and Mpumalanga Black Aces, Terrence Mandaza scored for the former to win the match for the KZN based side, while Method Mwanjali and new striker Tendai Ndoro fought a lost cause for the former on the day. Tapuwa Kapini returned to the starting line-up for Amazulu, with Carlington Nyadombo doing what he knows best in the heart of defence as the Durban-based side beat United 2-0. Gilbert Mapemba is back for Moroka Swallows who beat Mbombela FC to advance to the next round, while Washington Arubi's AmaTuks suffered an Extra-time 1-0 defeata at the hands of Supersport United. On Friday Khama Billiat inspired Sundowns beat  Simba Sithole's Ajax Cape Town 1-0 at Atholne Stadium, but Sithole did not feature as he is recovering from injury.
