Swallows through to MTN8 final

Rainer Zobel "s Moroka Swallows are through to the MTN8 final

Moroka Swallows beat Ajax Cape Town 3-2 in the second leg of the MTN8 semi-final to qualify for the final of the competition in a match played in Johannesburg on a Saturday afternoon.

Veteran striker and Moroka Swallows captain Siyabonga "Bhele" Nomvete scored two priceless goals either half of the encounter to inspire the Dube Birds to a sweet victory over an in-form Urban Warriors side.

Clayton Daniels gifted Nomvete with a mistimed back pass five minutes into the game, which the veteran striker cleverly intercepted and lobbed over a drawn out Hans Vonk.

Early into the second half, Nomvete found himself poorly marked in the box and easily scored from a Keegan Ritchie corner kick.

Daniels made amends for his costly error early into the match when he scored twice to put the Urban Warriors on level terms in the 70th and 79th minutes. For his first goal, Daniels benefited from intelligent pass from Khama Billiart, which found Stanton Lewis on the left. It was from a Lewis cross that Daniels pulled one back for Ajax.

With the match tied at 2-2 just five minutes before full time, Ajax looked on course to sail through on away goal's rule.

The Dube birds had other ideas. Big midfielder Oscar Machapa, full of running for the entire match, created space for himself on the right and delivered a beautiful cross which was easily converted by Sicelo Daniels with just three minutes left on the clock.

Swallows will now proceed to the final, and will meet either of Kaizer Chiefs or Orlando Pirates, who are set to complete their duel tomorrow. The two teams are deadlocked 1-1 from the first leg played at the FNB stadium two weeks ago.
