Saintfeit's re-calls senior Warriors

Benjani and Nengomasha are back in the Zimbabwwe squad

Before the official announcement of the squad for the Cape Verde game on 10 October, news has already gone out of the new Warriors coach Saintfeit's first squad. That squad sees the return of senior Warriors players.

The squad which has been leaked to the media includes some old and familiar faces, and a couple of new surprises.

Familiar faces who have received the nod in a strong 29-member squad include substantive captain Benjamin "Benjani" Mwaruwari, whom Saintfeit says he admires greatly. Benjani now plays for Blackburn Rovers in the English premiership league.

There are places also for France-based Ovidy Karuru of Bolougne in Ligue 1 and Vusa Nyoni who recently moved to Germinal Beerschot in Belgium.

Two surprise calls include that of towering and roving midfielder Oscar Machapa who has been showing great form for Moroka Swallows in South Africa PSL. Machapa engineered the goal which took the Dube Birds into the final of the R8 million MTN8 final. He is a regular with the Soweto club.

Obadiah Tarumbwa is reportedly scoring goals in Cyprus, and is currently playing like a rejuvenated footballer. He has received a call to the Warriors squad.

29-year old Dickson Choto, a veteran of the 2004 Africa Cup of Nations finals in Tunisia, could force his way back into the squad if he convinces Saintfeit, Madinda Ndlovu and Norman Mapeza that he will remain fit for the rest of the campaign. Choto plays for Legia Warsazawa in Poland, and is an accomplished defender.

Two veteran midfielders of the 2004 and 2006 AFCON finals, Esrom Nyandoro who captains Mamelodi Sundowns in South Africa, former South Africa's Footballer of the Season Tinashe Nengomasha of Kaizer Chiefs have found their way back into the squad.

The rest of the squad includes the following:

Goalkeepers:

Timothy Sibanda, Energy Murambadoro, Washington Arubi, Tapuwa Kapini, Edmore Sibanda

Defenders:

Gilbert Mapemba, Method Mwanjali, Noel Kaseke, Costa Nhamoinesu, Onismor Bhasera, Zhaimo Jambo, Dickson Choto, Thomas Sweswe

Midfielders:
