Bafana overcome Denmark

Beezsports Reporter

South Africa (0)1 Denmark (0)0

Bafana Bafana defeated Denmark at the newly renamed Lucas Moripe Stadium (formerly Super Stadium) here in Pretoria yesterday afternoon. The match was the last and final tune-up match for both teams before the World Cup opening tie between Bafana and Mexico at the Soccer City Stadium on 11 June.

Reneilwe Letsholonyane who won our Ma-of-the Match award, won possession in midfield and released Katlego Mphela on the right side of Bafana's attack. The Bafana lone striker did well to outpace the Danish defence, maintained his cool and slotted the ball past a drawn out Anderson, in goals for Denmark in the 76th minute.

Bafana Bafana's victory did the team such a world of good ahead of a crunchy affair with the fast-improving Mexicans who clinically dispatched Italy in Brussels on Thursday. South Africa has now gone 12 matches unbeaten in internationally recognised matches ever since the return of the Brazilian mentor Parreira. The experienced coach had replaced his compatriot Joel Santana, who himself, had come in to take Parreira's place as the former World Cup winner had to go back to his native Brazil to attend to his ailing wife at the time.
