Zim Under 20 are through to the Metropolitan COSAFA Under 20 semis

Swaziland 1   Zimbabwe 3

Young Warriors of Zimbabwe qualified for the Metropolitan/COSAFA Under 20 championships, after beating Swaziland 3-1 at the Molepolole Stadium, 50 km outside Gaborone, capital of Botswana. The match ended less than 30 minutes ago.

The Zimbabwe Under 20 team maintained a 100% record in the competition, following their 3-0 mauling of hosts Botswana in the opening match of Group A to finish the group stages with the possible 6 points.

Zimbabwe drew first blood in the 30th minute through a penalty by Denver Mukamba, who sent Ndumiso Dlamini in goals for Swaziland the wrong way from the spot kick.

The Young Warriors team took their foot off the pedal and allowed the Swazis to get back into the game. The Swazis managed to get a deserved equaliser 20 minutes after the restart. The talented Sipho Tsabedze scored during a goal-mouth melee.

The Zimbabweans lived it late to score two goals in quick succession to wrap up the match. The 2nd goal came courtesy of substitute Nqobizitha Masuku, whose 27 m pile driver was too superb for Dlamini to stop.

Three minutes later, Morris Kazola made it 3-1 for Zimbabwe to kill the math as a contest.

Thereafter, Zimbabwe piled the pressure in search of more goals, but good goal-keeping from Dlamini saved the Swazis from a heavy defeat.

Marvelous Nakamba was voted Man of the Match for an outstanding performance through out the match.

Zimbabwe, winners of Group A, proceed to the semi-finals of the competition where they will meet Zambia who pipped Angola to win group C.

The Zambians beat Mauritius 2-0, while Angola could only manage a 2-1 victory against the same opponents. Zambia and Angola had played to 2-2 draw in the opening match of their group C.

Namibia and Madagascar will battle it out for the place in the final against either of the neighbours, Zimbabwe and Zambia.
