Wits boosted by return of Murambadoro

Murambadoro, left, is set to replace Darren Keet, right when Wits play Celtic on Sunday

ABSA Premier Soccer League side Bidvest Wits Football Club has received a timely boost ahead of their Sunday league clash against Bloemfontein Celtic  with the revelations that Energy Murambadoro is now fully fit and in contention for a starting berth in the team.

Experienced keeper Murambadoro returned from a loan spell at Mpumalanga Black Aces at the end of last season, after helping Aces avoid relegation by beating Black Leopards in the Play-Offs final game.

Upon his return from Aces, Murambadoro was back on the injury list again after starting a few matches for his club Wits. The former Zimbabwe Footballer of the Year has since recovered from the injury and is now avalable for selection.

"I have now fully recovered from the injury I suffered upon my return from a loan deal at Aces," Murambadoro told this week.

"I am back and in contention for a starting berth over the weekend when we travel to Bloemfontein.

"Keet (Darren) has done a fantastic job during my absence due to injury. He is such a talented youngster who is destined for great things in football. You can see he has received a couple of call-ups from Bafana Bafana coach in the past few months.

"Now that I have recovered, I am hungry to play and I wish to help my club improve on our current log standings in the league (ABSA Premiership)," added Murambadoro.

Wits have also been boosted by Patrick Phungwayo's return from a loan deal from Panionios in Greece.

Greek club Panionios has run into financial difficulties following the economic meltdown which has hit Greece in the past year. As a result the club could not afford the continued stay of Phungwayo, hence his return home.

To read more about Energy Murambadoro, read the uncut interview later today with the hugely talented keeper whom former club CAPS' fans loved to call "Gokwe" after the Zimbabwean international's rural home.
