Ghana names squad for Sudan 2011 CHAN

Ghana have unveiled their 23-man squad for the Sudan 2011 African Nations Championship (CHAN).

Head coach Herbert Addo named his squad last Monday for the tournament that spans 4-25 February, 2011, with only Stephen Manu as the only surviving member from the silver winning team of 2009.

 Also named in the squad is youngster, Alfred Nelson, who plays for lower division side, Unistars Academy, with veterans, goalie Sammy Adjei and winger Bernard Dong Bortey making returns to the national team after years out, stints out, whilst current league leaders Berekum Chelsea lead the pack with seven players.

 Ghana’s local Black Stars are housed in Group B alongside Niger, Zimbabwe and South Africa for the second edition of the tournament designed exclusively for footballers playing in their domestic leagues.

 The Ghanaians open their campaign against South Africa on February 5, plays Zimbabwe four days later before wrapping up against Niger on February 13, all in Madany for a place at the next round.
