Chiefs missed Nengomasha: VV

Chiefs welcomes back Nengomasha for the Bloemfontein Celtic match this weekend

Kaizer Chiefs coach Vladimir Vermozovic has conceded that his team sorely missed the protective shield brought to the whole team by his midfield General Tinashe Nengomasha who was suspended for the match against Amazulu, despite Amakhosi's 3-1 victory.

Nengomasha was forced to sit out the match against Usuthu at the FNB Stadium on Wednesday night after having been suspended for having exceeded the legal limit of consecutive yellow cards picked up in matches.

The midfield looked suspect despite the 3-1 scoreline. The midfield quartet of Abia Nale, Josta Dladla, Reneihlwe Letsholonyane and Mthokozisi Yende failed to cope with the marauding Amazulu midfielders like Ramson Zhuwawo and Sthembiso Dlamini.

Amazulu were given too much freedom to hit the Chiefs rearguard on counter attacks via midfield where the Amakhosi engine room was caught in sixes and sevens. It was from such vulerabilities that Tangeni Shipahu scored Amazulu's only goal in the 78th minute.

The General, as Nengomasha is affectionately known by Chiefs fans, has proved to be the boss of the midfield, and with his commanding presence, the likes of Letsholontyane are released to make forays into attack and supply clean balls to the likes of Musona.

VV will be happy to welcome back not only Nengomasha for the crucial away match at the Sesa Rambodu Stadium over the weekend against Bloemfontein Celtic, but will also be happy with the return of hard-working left back Punch Masenamela.

Celtic are a difficult team to play at home, and Chiefs will need to be at full strength if they are to come away with a result from Bloemfontein.

Unfortunately for VV, his players appear to have developed a tendency to get what he has come to call "unnecessary yellow cards". Yeye will be suspended for the Celtic match.

Tow-goal hero Kaizer Motaung Jnr and Abia Nale are serious doubts for the away fixture over the weekend.

Motaung Jnr is currently riding a crest wave of great form, and suddenly he appears to have taken over the scoring duties from Musona. He limped off at half time on Wednesday night with a groin injury. His absence will be a cruel blow to VV and the team.

Nale also had to be substituted during the second half for an unspecified injury. The former Golden Arrows player was in terrific form last night, and he will be missed if he too fails to recover on time.
