In-form Bidvest Wits beat bottom team Mpumalanga Black Aces 3-0 on a Saturday afternoon

The South African ABSA Premier Soccer League season entered its 21st week this weekend, and the battle for the premier prize continues to intensify with each passing week. Save for former leaders Mamelodi Sundowns who are finding it hard to get their title campaign back on track, the top four teams continue their push for the title.

Ajax beat Vasco 2-1 in a Cape Town derby

Fresh from featuring in a highly contested and high-scoring derby against Santos which they won 4-3 recently, Ajax scored two goals through Thulani Serero to overcome battling Vasco da Gama 2-1 at the Cape Town Stadium last night, to move to 2nd on the log with 43 points after 21 games. They have temporarily replaced Kaizer Chiefs who are visiting Santos in Cape Town for a tricky game this Sunday.

Platinum Stars 'robbed' of points against Bloemfontein celtic

Dikwena scored first through regular scorer Bradley Grobler, who scored his 8th goal of the season from a penalty kick in the 83rd minute. With the home team only 2 minutes away from three points, Celtic got a controversial penalty in the 88th minute, and Angelo Kerspuy equalised for Phunya selesele.

Aces fail to escape Wits' ruthless from

Bidevst Wits continued with their rich vein of form against Mpumalanga Black Aces whom they walloped 3-0, sending them to the brink of relegation, in a league match played at Bidvest Stadium in Johannesburg on a Saturday afternoon.

Wits recently thrashed Vasco da Gama 6-0 in the league, and followed that up with a 4-1 victory in a CAF Confederations Cup fixture. They are currently the best PSL team on form alone.

Sundowns lose further title ground with FS Stars loss

Mamelodi Sundowns suffered their second consecutive defeat at the hands of Free Stars who beat them 2-1 at Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on a Saturday afternoon.

Stars scored through  Thabo Matlama and Phumlani Mhamha in either side of the match, while Sundowns got an equaliser in the 28th minute through hot striker and favourite to win the Golden Boot award this season, Nyasha Mushekwi. The imposing Zimbabwean striker had to be subsituted after scoring, having collided with the goalkeeper as he went for the kill. He has now scored his 9th goal of the season, and is just a goal away from current top marksman in the PSL, compatriot Knowledge Musona of Kaizer Chiefs.

Supersport United win at last

Out-going Champions Supersport United put a halt to a winless streak when they narrowly beat fellow relegation haunted candidates Maritzburg United 1-0 in Pretoria on a Saturday afternoon through Kermit Erasmus' 26th  minute goal.

Sunday Afternoon's PSL fixtures

Santos v Kaizer Chiefs (Athlone Stadium, Cape Town)

Orlando Pirates v Amazulu (Orlando Stadium, Soweto Johannesburg)

Golde Arrows v Moroka Swallows (Chatsworth Stadium, Durban)
