Cranes ranked 15th in Chan

Cranes ranked 15th in Chan

Uganda Cranes were ranked a miserable 15th at the on-going Chan tournament in Sudan. The performance is the worst under coach Bobby Williamson whose Cranes tenure had hitherto been illuminated by glorious Cecafa displays and a strong showing at the Nile Basin tournament.

The rankings were released after the first 24 matches. Only Rwanda fared worse than Uganda but both teams finished bottom of their groups, with no point scored.

Uganda and Rwanda had the worst defences, letting in five and seven goals respectively. Cranes along with Angola and Niger accumulated seven yellow cards each. Only Senegal (8), Ghana and Tunisia (9) accumulated more.

Owen Kasule and Tony Odur were the only two players to receive straight red cards during the match against Algeria. Seven in total were dished out.

Ugandaís first continental appearance in 33 years was a far cry from the runner-up position Cranes managed in 1978 and coach Bobby Williamson has already promised drastic changes ahead of the teamís trip to Guinea Bissau for an African Nations Cup qualifier next month.
