TEAM NEWS

Ivory Coast will be buoyed by the return to the starting XI of their talisman and Captain Didier Drogba who has scored more than 40 goals in in slightly more than 64 games. Drogba has recovered miraculously from a broken bone on his arm and wins a first team place to inspire the Elephants against Brazil.

Brazil, the Samba Boys have named the same team that laboured to a 1-0 victory over North Korea. The hard-to-please Brazillian media coach has lambasted coach Dunga's team for what they feel was a lacklustre performance against lowly opponents.

Julio Caesar is set to win his 50th cap against Cote de voire.

Important Statistics to Note

Brazil have won about 23 of their 24 matches against African opposition. They have scored 65 goals and conceded only 7 goals. The last goal they conceded was in their 5-1 win over little Tanzania after being restricted to a 3-0 victory by Zimbabwe in the warm up preparatory matches played in Dar-esa-lem and Harare respectively. Brazil came against these lowly ranked African teams who were less prepared than themselves. The Brazil media was worried about their team's performances in these matches.

Maicon has been the most in-form Brazilian player in the past matches. Against Korea he made 129 touches and scored a spectacular goal from the tightest of angles.

Brazil have lost just one of their last 27 internationals (their loss against Bolivia)

Ivory Coast have had a very healthy goal rate per match in the World Cup qualifiers, scoring 3.2 goals per match. But they owe much of this to the impact play of Drogba.

Ivory Coast have managed to keep 8 clean sheets in the past 16 matches they have played leading to the World Cup.
