Karuturi hold Gor to 1-1 draw in Kenya

Hosts Sher Karuturi came from one goal down in the first half to hold Gor Mahia to a 1 – 1 draw in a balanced Kenya Premier League match played at Old Trafford Stadium in Naivasha on Sunday.

Gor mahia  who went into the game with intention of bagging maximum points never wasted any moment to seize the first goal and hardly two minutes into the game they were in the driving seat.

Eric Masika opened the scoring for Gor  when he  blasted past goalkeeper Noah Ayuko following a  goalmouth melee.

Inspired by this early goal the Gor front runners led by Masika  engaged their opponents defence but inaccurate shooting in front of the goal was their big undoing.

The flower men returned from the break with renewed vigour  but were made to wait up to the 60th minute to level the score when Tom Onyango notched his season opener with a powerful shot on top of the box following a well weighted corner kick by Ben Lee Juma.

Tusker 2 Mathare 1
Tusker bounced back from 0-1 defeat by Western in KPL Top 8 to beat Mathare United 2-1 in a Kenya Premier League match played at Nyayo National Stadium on Sunday.

Efficient Tusker grabbed the lead barely three minutes into the session when George Midenyo met Levi Mwaka’s cross with a chip past the advancing Mathare United goalkeeper Martin Musalia.

Then Noah Abich made in two when he converted from the spot in the 20th minute after Dennis Mukaisi was brought down in the box by Dennis Nzomo.

Dominant Mathare, who squandered myriad of chances pulled one back from the spot through Kevin Kimani when Tusker custodian Boniface Oluoch tripped Jacob Kelly in the box.

Bandari 1 Sofapaka 3

Bandari suffered yet another humiliating defeat losing their third consecutive game 1-3 to Sofapaka at KPA Baraki Sports Club with a brace from Humphrey Ochieng and one from John Onami.

Chants of "Oliver must go" rent the air as early as the first half as Bandari’s diehard fans bayed for the blood of Bandari Coach Oliver Bango and his technical bench.

However, it’s Bandari, who drew first blood in the 5th minute when Ali Juma netted from Hamis Kafani pass after Crispin Adula had done the spadework.

Sofapaka played an easy game in what Ezekiel Akhwana said was keeping the energy in store for a continental battle with Ismail in Egypt this Friday. They levelled in the 10th minute.
