Dynamos rout MC Algiers in CL, Harare on cloud 9

Zim representatives in the CL, Dynamos beat MC Algiers of Algeria 4-1 in Harare on Sunday

Exactly 24 hours after a dark cloud covered Harare skies following the painful elimination from the Champions League of Motor Action by visiting ASEC Mimosas, Zimbabwe's glamour club Dynamos brought celebration back to the city with a 4-1 routing of MC Algiers of Algeria in a Champions League 2nd round 1st leg tie at Rufaro Stadium on Sunday.

DeMbare proved to all and sundry that their pre-Champions League great form was no fluke, when the Lloyd Mutasa coached out-fit beat the visiting Algerians into submission with a sleek-passing game at Rufaro to take a 2-0 lead going into the break.

Everything in the De-7million midfield and strike-force jaggernault appeared to respond to the technical instruction of "Samaita" Mutasa on a beautiful Sunday afternoon under the African skies, to give Dynamos a healthy 4-1 lead going into the 2nd leg away in Algiers in two weeks time.

Mutasa's boys, led by veteran skipper Desmond Maringwa, and driven by young turks Archieford Gutu, Denver Mukamba and Rodrick Mutume, added two goals in the 2nd half to make sure that the return leg becomes a formality in a fortnight.

The visitors pulled one back in the second half, and Dynamos should not ignore the possible importance of this goal in the event that the Algerians regroup and surprise the Zimbabwean giants with a 3-0 score-line in he return leg.

Mutasa and his boys should not sit back on their laurels and be too comfortable in the glory of their good home win.

Anything is possible in football. Zimbabwean Champions League representatives in 2000, Highlanders, led Sable de Batie of Cameroon 3-0 at home, only to lose by an exact scoreline of 0-3 in the return leg in Cameroon, before exiting after a penalty shoo-out.

DeMbare are better advised to avoid the Bosso shame, and remember that there is still everything to play for in the return leg.

The Algerians are currently going through a slump in form, and have lost four matches in a row before this match, and a change of fortunes is possible before the return leg.
