National Under 23 coach Friday "Amayenge" Phiri has named an almost unchanged squad for the Zone VI All-Africa (Maputo 2011) Games First round qualifier against theYoung Zebras of Botswana next weekend.

Phiri and his technical team decided not to tinker with a squad that played brilliantly against Zambia in the preliminary round which the Young Warriors won 4-3 on aggregate, except for two additions, and the loss of a key defender.

Upcoming Dynamos' Champions League striker Rodrick Mutuma has received recognition from the junior team's coaches following some solid displays in Dynamos colours over the past few months.

Mutuma joins a strikeforce rich with young talent that includes CAPS United' red-hot striker Simba Sithole, who has already scored 4 goals in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League in only two games, as well as Jomo Cosmos of South Africa's Matthew Rusike.

Also called up for the first time to the Under 23 squad is English Coca-Cola championship side Reading's versatile midfielder Trevor Mutero. The attacking midfielder, who is equally at home as a central midfielder, is already in the country for the Botswana tie.

Zimbabwe's Young Warriors squad boasts at least four players with Warriors squad experience.

Archieford Gutu and Denver Mukamba played very well for the senior national soccer team in Bamako against Mali last week, albeit in a 0-1 losing cause in the 2012 African Nations Cup qualifier, while Qadr Amin sat on the bench  through out the match.

Sithole  and Ariel Sibanda were part of Zimbabwe's Championships of Nations Finals in Sudan in January and February.

The Under 23 team will first play Botswana away in Gabarone next Saturday before engaging the young Zebras two weeks later in the 2nd leg in Harare. Should the Young Warriors qualify at the expense of their neighbours, they will go on to face possibly Amaglug-glug of South Africa in the final qualifying round.

The squad failed to get into camp due to obvious reasons,  the usual excuse of lack of funds to foot the team's camping costs. The team will only regroup this weekend.

Here is the full squad called for the Botswana tie, with Knowledge Machona being the notable absentee due to a suspension.
