Brazil will welcome back three players who missed the clash against Portugal due to injuries and suspension. Playmaker Kaka returns from serving a one match ban, while Elano and Robinho return from ankle injury and muscular pains respectively.

Felipe Melo has a sprained ankle is a doubtful starter, while Julio Baptista might be kept out by a knee injury.

Chile have their fair share of problems. Three of their players are unvailable due to suspension.Midfielder Marco Estrada is serving a one match suspension, while defenders Waldo Ponce and Gary Medel received their second cautions of the tournament in their final group match.

Good news for Chile however is that Matias Fernandez and Carlos Carmona return after bans.

Jorge Valdivia is likely to pre preferred upfront ahead of Humberto Suazo, who looks less match-fit.

Brazil and Chile are both members of CONCACAF in South America. All the South American teams qualified for te last 16 at this year's World Cup.

Brazil are said to be a nation that plays total football, while Chile plays a very adventurous 3-3-1-3 formation, a vey strange formation to most football lovers.

In their last two World Cup qualifiers, Brazil trounced their opponents 3-0 and 4-2 home and away respectively. Those victories have seen Brazil emerging superior, winning 7 of their last encounters. Brazil have always won their matches against Chile by margins of over 2 goals. At the 1962 World Cup finals which Chile hosted, Brazil walloped them 4-2 on their way to the final and beat them 4-1 at France '98. There is a psychological advantage which Brazil carries into this match over their South American counterparts.

In a total of 64 matches between the two teams, Chile have only won 7 times. Their last victory over Brazil was a 3-0 win during the 2000 World Cup qualifiers.
