Sithole, Amini, Rambanepasi on trials in SA

Qadr Amini is on trial at Soweto giants Orlando Pirates

Four very talented Zimbabwean players from the Castle Premiership at home, have been going through trials at various clubs in South Africa over the past few days.

Leading Castle Premiership scorer and All-Africa Games leading scorer Simba Sithole arrived at Maritzburg United last week, who are assessing him for a possible contract offer, should he impress.

Maritzburg is a modest ABSA Premier Soccer League club in South Africa, and needed a good victory against Mamelodi Sundowns to survive relegation play-offs.

For a player of Sithole's potential, it might be desperation to move away from the underpaying local league to thousands of rands paid for topflight players across the Limpopo. Money-lure has seen many talented local players leaving PSL clubs for even First Division team in South Africa.

Gunners captain Ashley Rambanepasi, a hugely talented midfielder, who should have been playing outside the country by now if he had not disappeared in the UK in September 2005 following a friendly match against Highlanders in Bradford, is trying his luck at Platinum Stars.

Zimbabwe Under 23 captain Qadr Amini is at title-chasing Orlando Pirates, fighting to get a contract. Amini, a gifted left-back, will have to really fight hard to dislodge Reuben Cloete, who has done well at the Buccaneers this season, should he make the grade.

Dynamos and Under 23 star Denver Mukamba is also reportedly at Maritzburg, together with Sithole, t rying to make his case for a contract offer at the KZN midlands club.

The three Under stars together with veteran Rambanepasi, join another Under 23 and Warriors star Archieford Gutu who left two weeks ago for a three week trial stint with Bulgarian champions PFC Litex Lovech, in search of contracts outside the country.
